Hedge fund specialist, optometrist spend $3.55M for Dayton mansion

Mark Melchiorre and his wife, Dr. Erika Melchiorre, bought a five-bedroom, 4.2 bath at 1724 N. Dayton St. in Lincoln Park for $3.55 million from Richard and Katherine Harjes on May 12.
Mr. and Mrs. Harjes paid $3.2 million for the home in Dec. 2005.
Mr. Melchiorre is the managing director of O'Connor Strategies, a hedge fund specialty firm affiliated with UBS Global Asset Management in Chicago. He was hired for the position in August.
He previously served as a senior member of the high yield credit trading group for the Credit Suisse Group in New York.
Dr. Melchiorre is an optometrist at the Sauganash Family Eye Center in Chicago. She earned her D.O. from the Illinois College of Optometry (2005).
