Microfinance specialist swaps with architect for Bosworth townhome

Kenneth Vander Weele and his wife, Linda, bought a two-bedroom, three bath townhome at 2502 N. Bosworth Ave. in Lincoln Park for $550,000 from William Scholtens and his wife, Diane, on May 21.

Mr. Vander Weele is the president of the investment services division at the Opportunity International Network, a microfinance company based in the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook. He's worked in a number of capacities for the company since joining in 1991, including a consultant for the company's Latin America business, a regional vice president for the Eastern Europe division and as an interim CEO.

He has also worked as a senior vice president for the Graphisphere Corporation and at global accounting firm Grant Thornton.

He earned his Ph.D. from the Open University of the United Kingdom, his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and his bachelor's in business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Mr. Scholtens is the owner of the Elements Architectural Group, Inc. in Chicago. He earned his bachelor's from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1997).
