G. Gilmer Minor, III, bought a three-bedroom, 2.1-bath at 3022 N. Seminary Ave. in Lake View for $790,000 from Betty Schechter on July 31.

Minor is the chairman of the board and the former president and CEO of Owens & Minor, a supply-chain solutions company and a leading distributor of name-brand medical and surgical supplies. The company is based in Richmond, Va.

He joined the company in 1964 as the grandson of the company's co-founder, and eventually rose to company president in 1981. He was named CEO three years later and oversaw the company's progression to a Fortune 500 company with yearly sales topping $4 billion. He relinquished his title as president in 1999 and as CEO in 2005.

He earned his bachelor's in history from the Virginia Military Institute (1964) and his MBA from the University of Virginia.
