A.J. Pierzynski drops $1.625M on N. Clifton

Medium 6f53a10c19f872c3e85bcebffbf33c22 A.J. Pierzynski and his wife, Lisa, bought a three-bath home at 2139 N. Clifton Ave. in Lincoln Park for $1.625 million from Luz M. Santamarina and Alexander S. Ghiso on March 7, 2006.

Santamarina and Ghiso paid $1.52 million for the home in April 2005. The three-story, 3,824-square-foot home was built in 1896.

Pierzynski is a catcher with the Chicago White Sox. He has played five full major league seasons for the Minnesota Twins, San Francisco Giants and Chicago White Sox.

He was drafted in 1994 by the Twins and became the team's starting catcher in 2001. He was named to the 2002 American League All-Star team, finishing the year batting .300 with six home runs and 49 RBI. He was traded to the Giants following the 2003 season, and in his lone season with the Giants he hit .272 with 11 home runs and a career-high 77 RBI. He signed with the White Sox as a free agent prior to the 2005 season, and hit .257 with 18 home runs and 56 RBI for the World Series champions.

Outside of baseball, Pierzynski has appeared in the professional wrestling promotion Total Nonstop Action as a manager.
