Finance firm exec fetches North Center 5BD for $1.23M

Medium 97d8f4e91b0bf780294db9de34133059 Marisa J. Kurk and Nicholas A. Kurk bought a five-bed, four-bath home at 2038 W. Pensacola Ave. in North Center from Erik Gershfeld and Nicole Gershfeld for $1.225 million on Sept. 13.

The property was previously acquired for $1.438 million in April 2008. The 5,100-square-foot house was built in 2008.

Ms. Kurk is a senior vice president and head of operations for currency and commodities at Mesirow Financial. Mesirow provides investment management, insurance advisory, and property consultancy services, among others. Before that, she was the senior vice president and head of client operations for currency management at the said finance firm.

She received a Bachelor's degree in economics from Eastern Illinois University and a Master's degree in finance from the DePaul University Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Kurk is an associate at law firm Jenner & Block. He is part of the litigation department and he handles complex commercial litigation that involves information technology outsourcing, internal corporate and government investigations, bankruptcy cases, and others.

He received a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

Mr. Gershfeld is a manager at Idea Media Services L.L.C., a media production and reproduction company.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 193 home sales in North Center during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $445,500.
