Windings Villas accompanied large subdivision with townhouses

An offshoot of The Windings of Ferson Creek, the Windings Villas in St. Charles added townhouses to the single-family homes of the original area.

Planned for just 32 units, the Windings Villas were priced at $43,000 to $48,000 and offered ranch and two-story configurations. Homes had two bedrooms, air conditioning, two-car garage, wall-to-wall carpeting, fireplace, basement, dishwasher, soundproof walls, entry courts, "maintenance-free living" and courtyard decks, according to the August 30, 1973 Daily Herald.

The Villa Plan B model was featured in the Sept. 14, 1974 Chicago Tribune. Priced at $46,350, the home offered two bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, rough-sawn cedar exterior, cathedral ceiling in the living-dining room, fireplace, automatic garage door opener and two sets of sliding glass doors. Recreational facilities were in the works, the Tribune noted.

The Branigar Organization was builder of the subdivision.
