John Maher Jr. owned this house and was the chairman and owner of DownBeat Music Inc. in 2003 when he passed away. DownBeat Music Inc. publishes the influential jazz magazine DownBeat. The magazine is considered to be the standard for jazz journalism. Maher Jr. is considered a jazz legend and Grammy winner Norah Jones was a three-time winner of the DownBeat awards while in college.

Giesche Shoes patriarch owned this house

Thorman Giesche owned this house and was the retired owner of Giesche Shoes when he passed away in 2005. Giesche Shoes has been a family run business for over 100 years. The two-story building has been a fixture in downtown Glen Ellyn for over 60 years.
